Personal protective equipment kit for journalists

Preparation for travel to any combat zone or liberated territory must include a complete inspection of personal and group equipment, including IFAK contents, the group medical bag or backpack, and an updated personal medication kit.

Study the laws of the parties to the conflict concerning non-combatants and confirm the current situation with accompanying personnel.
Listen carefully to the military briefing and ask any questions that were not answered.

Always pay attention to soldiers at checkpoints. Their behaviour is a reliable indicator of the current situation. Helmets, weapons at the ready, mutual cover and constant vigilance indicate a dangerous area where extra caution is required.

Weapons and cameras are incompatible. Never handle a weapon or wear military uniform or similar-looking clothing in a combat zone. This mistake can cost a life or a reputation.
