Demining

Ukraine is currently the most heavily mined country in the world.

According to estimates by the Ministry of Defence, between 130,000 and 160,000 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory contain mines and other explosive hazards. They can maim and kill people and cause material damage for decades.

Completing the demining of the country will require more than ten years and billions of dollars. However, experience from other armed conflicts around the world shows that estimated and actual completion times may differ significantly.
